    Stephen E. Canup

Having reached the pinnacle of success in the business world at an early age, Stephen found himself bored, restless and empty. Searching in all the wrong places for something to fill the hole in his soul soon led to addictions of every kind, depravity, unemployment and eventually homelessness. His sin landed him in prison late in life, but he finally cried out to God. His story of God's forgiveness and redemption has given hope to prisoners all across the United States.

    3 minute story, 2019:

God’s grace poured out in Stephen’s life, and the empowerment of the Holy Spirit to reach out to others like he once was, has given him a purpose and passion to see prisoners set free. If God can change him, and He truly has, He can change anyone!

    Personal Testimony, 2015:

In 2020, he was promoted to President of Freedom in Jesus Prison Ministries, Inc. (FIJM) in Northwest Texas near Lubbock. FIJM ministers regularly in person in about 20 Texas prisons, and mails Discipleship Teachings every two months to nearly 1,100 correctional facilities across the United States to over 4,200 men and women. DVDs of worship services for prisoners, and Words of Hope from ex-convicts, are mailed several times a year to correctional facilities nationwide.

Stephen is the author of four books widely distributed into prisons and jails across America. The first in 2017 was his personal testimony and story, Jail-House Religion: From Park Avenue... to Park Bench... to Prison. The second, Diving Deeper: A Daily Leap into a Life More Abundant, is a daily Christian discipleship teaching for the entire year similar to a daily devotional. The third book, Knowing the One Who Leads You: 100 Days of Holy Spirit Fellowship, is a daily teaching about growing in relationship with God, the Holy Spirit. In early 2022, Lepers No More: How Society's Outcasts are Healed and Restored was shipped in boxes of 40 each into 1,095 prisons and jails nationwide. Lepers No More gives hope and encouragement to anyone who feels marginalized, labeled or excluded from society.
